Today is Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day and we want to express our gratitude. This dedicated team works tirelessly every day to provide a safe environment for our students, staff, and families. Whenever there's an issue, they're quick to remedy it, ensuring minimal disruption to our students' education. They consistently go the extra mile, whether it's clearing snow in freezing temperatures or preparing buildings and fields for game days. If you see any of these hardworking individuals today, be sure to thank them, and wish Mike Branson a Happy Birthday as well.

It’s time to recognize the vital role of school counselors during National School Counseling Week 2025. The role of school counselors is crucial in student development as they provide essential support in academic achievement, career exploration, and social-emotional learning. They advocate for students, helping to remove obstacles to success and ensuring that each student has the necessary resources to thrive.
School counselors assist with college and career planning, and offer guidance on mental health and emotional well-being. They act as a vital link between students, teachers, and families, fostering a positive and supportive school environment that empowers students to reach their full potential.

#SendACardToAFriendDay
National Send A Card To A Friend Day on February 7th encourages us to reach out to our friends by sending them a card. It's the perfect opportunity to express our thoughts and cherish the memories we have with our dear friends by mailing them a heartfelt note or message. The handwritten note is kind of a lost art, so let's bring it back.

We are hiring.

National Black History Month, also called National African American History Month, is observed in February as a time for all Americans to celebrate the achievements of African Americans. It also acknowledges the important role of Black Americans in history.
Carter Woodson, a historian from the twentieth century, established Black History Month. He felt that Black Americans were not sufficiently represented in the study of American history. Woodson also envisioned a future where Black history would be accepted as an integral part of American history. In 1976, President Gerald Ford officially recognized Black History Month.

Happy Kansas Day from all of us at USD 440. We love our state.

January is School Board Appreciation Month! This is an opportunity to acknowledge and thank the individuals serving on local school boards. These dedicated volunteers play an essential role in guiding public education, making important decisions that influence the quality of education and contribute to the success of students, staff, and the entire community.
As a token of gratitude, all board members received a gift basket prepared by the district. Each building contributed a special item: personalized wooden coaster sets from HHS, a potted plant in a unique dragon scale pot from the HMS greenhouse, and 3D-printed dragons from BPS.
Thank you to our Board of Education—we are grateful for all that you do!
