Halstead Middle School has a fine and long tradition of developing and maintaining creative and exceptional educational opportunities for students. With a staff of quality educators, children attending HMS will receive an excellent education. Traditional programs exist along side programs supported by 21st century technology. Students, grades Pre-K and 4-8th, are assigned to grade-level academic teams. These teams of teachers collaborate to assure individual attention to students' needs. Both students and teachers benefit from the personalized relationship.

HMS Wins Award!
 Halstead Middle School has been recognized as a High Performing Middle School in 2008-09 by the Kansas Association of Middle School Administrators (KAMSA). HMS earned the Gold Standard, which is the highest level possible. To qualify for this standard, “School-wide” Standard of Excellence in math and/or reading OR at least 10% growth building-wide in percentage of students meeting proficiency in math or reading must be met. HMS received the Standard of Excellence in both reading and math for 2008-09 school year.
